Terms of Service

1. Agreement to Terms

By downloading, installing, or using the Yarn+Chai mobile application (“App”) or accessing the Yarn+Chai members platform at members.yarnandchai.com (“Website”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use our services.

2. Description of Service

Yarn+Chai is a membership-based community for knitting and crochet enthusiasts. Our services include access to curated patterns, community features, event information, and member-exclusive content through our mobile app and web platform.

3. Membership and Subscriptions

Plans Available

• Monthly All Access Pass: $5.00/month
• Annual All Access Pass: $50.00/year

Billing

• Mobile app subscriptions are billed through your Apple App Store or Google Play Store account.
• Web subscriptions are billed through Stripe.
• Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless canceled.

Cancellation

• You may cancel your subscription at any time.
• iOS: Manage or cancel your subscription through Settings > [Your Name] > Subscriptions on your Apple device.
• Android: Manage or cancel your subscription through Google Play Store > Menu > Subscriptions.
• Web: Manage your subscription at members.yarnandchai.com/account.
• After cancellation, you retain access until the end of your current billing period. No partial refunds are provided for unused time.
• Deleting your account cancels a web subscription right away, with no refund for the rest of the billing period. It does not cancel an App Store or Google Play subscription: cancel that in the store as described above.

Refunds

• Refund requests for App Store and Google Play purchases must be directed to Apple or Google respectively, as they process the payments.
• For web subscription refunds, contact us at support@yarnandchai.com.

4. Account Responsibilities

• You must be at least 13 years old to create an account.
• You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.
• You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
• Notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Share your account credentials with others
• Redistribute, resell, or publicly share member-exclusive content (patterns, etc.)
• Use the service for any unlawful purpose
• Attempt to interfere with the proper functioning of the service
• Scrape, copy, or extract content through automated means

6. Photos You Share

In the App, members can share photos of things they've made on a pattern's page, with a caption and a name of their choosing. Other members can see them. By sharing a photo, you agree to these Terms.

Your rights and our license

You keep ownership of the photos and captions you share. By sharing one, you give Yarn+Chai a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to store, copy and display it, with its caption and the name you chose, in the App and on the Website, and to make the technical changes needed to show it, such as removing location details from the file. The license lasts as long as the photo stays shared. It ends when you remove the photo or delete your account, except for copies in our backups until they expire, as our Privacy Policy describes.

What you promise

• You took the photo, or you have permission to share it.
• Anyone who can be recognized in it has agreed to you sharing it.
• It follows the content rules in section 7.

7. Content Rules

These rules cover every photo, caption and name you share. Content that breaks them is objectionable content, and it is not allowed anywhere in the service. Don't share anything that:

• contains nudity or sexual content
• sexualizes, exploits or endangers children
• shows or encourages violence, self-harm, or cruelty to people or animals
• is hateful, or attacks people for their race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, disability, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation or age
• harasses, bullies, threatens or impersonates anyone
• shows hate symbols or rude gestures
• shares anyone's personal information, such as a home address, phone number or email address
• is spam
• breaks the law, or infringes someone else's copyright, trademark or privacy

How we enforce them

• Every photo passes an automated check before other members can see it. A photo that fails the check is not shared.
• Report: if you see a photo, caption or name that breaks these rules, open the ⋯ menu on the photo and choose Report this photo, or email support@yarnandchai.com. Reports go to our support team.
• Block: open the ⋯ menu on a photo and choose Block to stop seeing that member's photos. They aren't told. You can undo it in Settings > Blocked members.
• We review reports and remove content that breaks these rules. We may also suspend or end the account of a member who breaks them.

8. Intellectual Property

• Apart from what members share (section 6), all patterns, content, and materials provided through Yarn+Chai are owned by or licensed to Yarn+Chai.
• Your membership grants you a personal, non-transferable license to access and use patterns for personal, non-commercial purposes.
• You may create items from our patterns for personal use or sale, but you may not redistribute the patterns themselves.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

The service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Yarn+Chai shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the service.

11. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated Terms on our website. Your continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
